Port No. 12
Traveler's Service Centre

When standing at Port No. 12, one can see the trains passing over the bridge as they travel along the coastline as well as the Love Boat chugging around Love River. The view of the railway has given Port No. 12 a lonely ambience, but the combined beauty of Love River and the harbour still remains.

The former traveller's centre at Port No. 12 has been redeveloped into a storage area (Storage 12 -2A ). By walking along the pedestrian path and then over the bridge, you'll get a street view of the north side of Gong Yuan Road as well as a view of Love River.

A viewing platform, the original framework of the old storage building and the multifunctional, illuminated performing stage is a unique sight by the harbour.

Reserving the next Musical entertainment
Asia Pacific Region's Pop Music Centre

Music also helps to give cities their own distinct culture and individuality. The renowned theatrical performances of Broadway, as well as the Sydney Opera House in Australia allow not only for local, but also for international performances.

Kaohsiung also boasts a bubbling music scene. The Beer Festival at Love River and the Music Festival at Cijin Beach are two classic examples where the sounds of bass and electronic guitars combine with the sounds of the ocean to provide a unique experience for all.

The Taiwanese Government is planning to spend five trillion dollars (NT) over a five-year period in order to develop ten monumental construction projects. The “Asia-Pacific Region Pop Music Centre” is the next big project that has caught everyone's attention. Mayor Chen has called for the help of international designers to create a musical stage in Kaohsiung of similar importance to that of the Sydney Opera House. With such prime geographical advantages, the mayor hopes that through the development of this centre he can attract musical performances from China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore, not to mention local Taiwanese performances.
