From day to night, Kaohsiung exhibits a friendly ambience in many different ways. The department stores in the Sanduo Commercial Area and the funky and fashionable goods in the Hsin-Jyue-Jiang Shopping Area are a big attraction for the younger generation. In addition to that, an abundance of traditional snacks and foreign cuisine make Kaohsiung not just a shopping paradise, but also a healthy city to relax in.
Kaohsiung is the biggest industrial city in Taiwan , owing to the presence of big name industries such as CPC Corporation, Taiwan, China Steel Company and CSBC Corporation, Taiwan . However, the petrochemical industry is not as popular these days as it once was, and as a result, the Kaohsiung City Government is changing the industry into one that will allow for a range of different trading so as to encourage new investment.

Following up on the rapid changes of industry, the Kaohsiung City Government is planning to construct a “Free Trading Port Area” and “ State Cargo Center .” Furthermore, it also wants to develop the Harbor Commercial Area and International Professional Logistics Center to upgrade Kaohsiung Port into a multi-functional place.
