For example, if the expiration date is on Sunday, applicants may file for an extension on Monday. Applicants will receive an overstay status on Tuesday if they do not file for an extension on Monday.
The visa stay period is calculated starting from the second day after the visa holder arrives in the ROC. For example, for applicants that arrive on May 5, the calculation of the stay period will begin on May 6.

An alien can fill out an authorization statement and have other people bring related documents to apply for an ID Number at the local police bureau's Foreign Affairs Division (Section).
I Foreigners: please apply at the local police bureau's Foreign Affairs Division (Section). II ROC nationals without a household registry and people from Hong Kong, Macao, and China, please apply for an ID Number at the Immigration Bureau, other branches, and service offices in Kinmen and Matsu .
Aliens holding an ARC can apply for an exit permit at any police bureau's Foreign Affairs Division (Section). A “Red Color Exit Registration Form” issued by the bureau, with stamps indicating the organization and the title of the person who processed the case, will be considered equivalent to an exit permit.
Foreign passengers, who on the same day and from the same authorized TRS-labeled store purchase more than NT$3,000 (tax included) worth of goods that are eligible for refund and exit the Republic of China within thirty days from the date of purchase, may put in a claim for a refund of the tax paid upon departure. The Aviation Police Bureau also allows physically challenged travelers to go through the counters reserved for speedy immigration inspection and clearance to help reduce waiting time and inconvenience.
Applicants must not engage in activities that are different from the purposes of their visas. For example, they may not work without permission. According to Article 43 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Immigration Act, applicants may engage in activities not specified by their visa regulations and the statement of purpose of stay on the embarkation/disembarkation form, such as: sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends, and other daily activities not prohibited by the law.
Aliens who enter the ROC with landing visa, visa exemption, or a 60-day visitor visa (with words “no extension granted” on it) cannot apply for a visa extension.
