[Kaohsiung news] After introducing the “MRT and Bus Unlimited Use, Unlimited Travel in Greater Kaohsiung” (unlimited MRT stations + transit bus unlimited use or MRT fixed station-to-station + transit bus unlimited use), the Transportation Bureau further introduced the “Unlimited Transit Bus and Great oBike Discount” monthly bus ticket on April 1. For only NTD 479, buyers can get unlimited use of transit buses each month, and the student price is an even lower NTD 399. From April to July, the first 1,000 buyers each month will also receive three free half-hour bike uses from oBike. Buyers are welcome to purchase these monthly tickets at any Kaohsiung City MRT station.
Chen Ching-Fu, Director-General of the Transportation Bureau, stated that to further satisfy the commuting needs of the public and make traveling more convenient, the Transportation Bureau is cooperating with the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corp. to introduce the “MRT and Bus Unlimited Use, Unlimited Travel in Greater Kaohsiung” program. Not only that, the Transportation Bureau further introduced the “Unlimited Transit Bus and Great oBike Discount” on April 1. The target group for this program is people and students who use transit buses for commuting to work and school. In addition to transit bus + free C-Bike for the first 30 minutes, the first 1,000 people to purchase the ticket each month from April to July can receive three additional free half-hour bike uses from oBike. These 4,000 additional discounts provide a new transportation choice for city residents during their daily commute.
The Transportation Bureau reminds residents that starting on April 1 they can purchase the monthly ticket at any Kaohsiung City MRT station with their Kaohsiung (student) commuter card or digital student ID. For people who wish to purchase the monthly bus ticket but do not have a commuter card, please visit the KSmart website (https://gojet.krtco.com.tw/) to apply for a commuter card. Residents can also apply for a card on-site at the Sinyi Elementary School Station between now to April 30 by showing their ID.
The Transportation Bureau states that the aforementioned unlimited transit bus monthly ticket does not include intercity buses (8XXX), express lines, medical/cultural/Taiwan Trip Routes, and routes not under the jurisdiction of this city. The Transportation Bureau also reminds monthly ticket buyers to swipe their card when they get on and get off a transit bus. If the card is not swiped when getting on or off the bus, the card will be locked, and the next transit bus passage will require a NTD 12 card-unlocking fee. The public can also use the “Kaohsiung iBus” app to reduce their waiting time and rapidly get to their destination.
