[Kaohsiung News] With the Children’s Day and Tomb-Sweeping Festival long weekend approaching, Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-Mai presided over the March 25 municipal administrative meeting and emphasized the importance of ensuring public safety and smooth traffic flow during the holiday period. As large crowds are expected for tomb visits and leisure activities, he directed all relevant departments and agencies to closely monitor major traffic routes and implement appropriate control and diversion measures, and intensify public awareness efforts on fire safety during tomb-sweeping activities. Mayor Chen also emphasized the need for maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in popular tourist attractions, major roads, public spaces, and restrooms to ensure an overall quality experience for residents and visitors alike.
During the meeting, newly appointed Director of the Agriculture Bureau Yao Chih-wang took his oath of office. The Education Bureau also presented a briefing on the “2025 Kaohsiung Children’s Art Festival –LEGO to Kaohsiung !”, announcing a collaboration with LEGO® to be held at Weiwuying (National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts). This year’s festival invites families from across the nation to participate in a wide range of creative and interactive activities. Through the integration of art, creativity, and hands-on experiences, the festival aims to inspire children’s imagination and nurture their creative development. Mayor Chen reminded all event organizers to ensure clear crowd flow planning and signage at the venue. He also encouraged the public to take advantage of public transportation services when attending the event. As part of the city’s holiday offerings, the Shoushan Zoo will hold a special “Shoushan Kids’ Adventure ” program and offer free admission to all children under the age of 12 during the holiday period.
The Education Bureau explained that this year’s “LEGO to Kaohsiung!” integrates the city’s unique landscape and cultural features into a series of exclusive LEGO-themed experiences. Children will have the opportunity to experience Kaohsiung’s beauty through artistic creation and interactive activities. On-site activities will include the “Kaohsiung LEGO Wall,” where families can co-create mosaic designs inspired by the city’s name, and the “LEGO Postcard” photo zone, allowing visitors to capture beautiful memories against LEGO-inspired Kaohsiung landmarks. In addition, the LEGO team will visit rural schools to host workshops, inviting students to collaborate on a large-scale “LEGO Kaohsiung Mural,” combining art and play to inspire boundless imagination and creativity.
As the Children’s Day holiday approaches, the Kaohsiung City Government, in partnership with LEGO, is launching the highly anticipated “2025 Kaohsiung Children’s Art Festival –LEGO to Kaohsiung!” from April 3–6 at Weiwuying. Drawing inspiration from Kaohsiung’s maritime identity, the festival will feature the exclusive debut of a 9-meter-tall “Surfing LEGO” installation. In addition to LEGO-themed activities, the festival is a collaborative effort involving multiple city agencies, offering a wide array of family-friendly experiences. Highlights include stage performances by EBC YOYO, children’s theater groups, and school performance teams. Evening programs on April 4 and 5 will feature an outdoor cinema, screening the animated film Shiro - Hero of Heroes , offering families a cozy movie night under the stars. A vibrant market will also be set up, offering a selection of local delicacies and creative goods. The Kaohsiung City Government warmly invites families to join in the festivities at Weiwuying and create unforgettable memories this Children’s Day holiday.
