[Kaohsiung News] Now entering its third year, the Kaohsiung Christmas Festival officially lit up Central Park on November 28. The Kaohsiung City Government’s Economic Development Bureau reported on event preparations during the municipal administrative meeting on December 9, announcing that a five-day series of major live performances will take place from December 20 to 24, inviting the public to join in the festive celebrations. Mayor Chen Chi-mai expressed hope that the festival will be closely integrated with department stores and retail businesses to stimulate consumer spending and generate another surge of commercial activity toward the end of the year.
According to the Economic Development Bureau, the 2025 Kaohsiung Christmas Festival features immersive lighting installations, live music performances, themed markets, and cross-sector commercial collaborations. The highlight of the event is “Christmas Golden Week – Golden Park Main Stage,” scheduled from December 20 to 24. For the first time in the event’s history, live performances will run for five consecutive days, marking the largest and most ambitious lineup to date. The star-studded roster includes Sunset Rollercoaster, Fire EX., Amazing Show, MIXER, Enno Cheng, WeiBird, Gummy B, Pei-Yu Hung, Fool and Idiot, among others, with a total of 25 acts delivering festive, joyful, and romantic holiday vibes as the year draws to a close. The Department of Budget, Accounting and Statistics reported on the implementation status of capital expenditures for Fiscal Year 2025. Mayor Chen instructed all agencies and departments to actively advance project execution in order to improve the overall implementation rate. In response to recommendations raised by city councilors during general interpellation sessions, Mayor Chen also urged all departments to carefully review and proactively address the proposed measures.
As temperatures continue to drop and day–night temperature differences increase, Mayor Chen requested the Social Affairs Bureau, Civil Affairs Bureau, and district offices to further strengthen protective measures for vulnerable groups, including people experiencing homelessness and seniors living alone. He also asked the Fire Bureau and Civil Affairs Bureau to continue promoting the installation of residential fire alarms to ensure household safety.
In addition, Chen Yen-Chu, a program director at Kaohsiung Broadcasting Station under the Information Bureau, was awarded the Sound Effects Award at the 60th Golden Bell Awards. This marks the station’s third consecutive year winning the award. Mayor Chen presented the honor during the municipal administrative meeting, commending her outstanding performance. Furthermore, students from Feng-Shan Senior High School, Fuhwa Senior High School, and Kaohsiung American School, representing Taiwan at the 2025 iENA International Trade Fair for Ideas, Inventions, and New Products in Nuremberg, Germany, were awarded Gold Medals. Mayor Chen also recognized and congratulated the students on their achievements.
