[Kaohsiung News] On April 15, Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai presided over the municipal administrative meeting, during which the Fire Department presented its report on “Fire Safety Preparedness in Science and Industrial Parks.” The report outlined achievements in emergency response resource deployment and rescue drills. Key achievements included large-scale disaster response drills, enhanced firefighting capabilities in neighboring districts, and the completion of digital mapping rights acquisition and fire hydrant inspections.

Regarding disaster prevention strategies in science parks, the Fire Department noted that it will continue to implement enterprise-based disaster preparedness policies, host seminars, assist with emergency drills, and establish volunteer fire brigades within companies. Joint defense mechanisms will be activated, and digital integration will be further enhanced to boost response efficiency. Additionally, ongoing inspections, training, and equipment procurement will help reduce risks and enhance overall firefighting capabilities.

Mayor Chen instructed the Fire Department to actively pursue central government funding for procuring advanced rescue equipment and vehicles, prioritizing their deployment to fire stations near science parks to enhance emergency response. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining up-to-date site mapping and data. The Fire Department is tasked with ensuring that companies regularly update their facility maps and provide detailed, regularly updated information on pipeline layouts, types and quantities of hazardous materials, and on-site inventory levels.

Lastly, with the flood season approaching, Mayor Chen called on the Water Resources Bureau, Environmental Protection Bureau, Public Works Bureau, Civil Affairs Bureau, and all district offices to step up flood prevention efforts. The Water Resources Bureau is directed to review improvements made to flood-prone areas identified last year, strengthen inspections of flood-prone road segments, prioritize the maintenance of roadside drainage, and remove debris from water channels to prevent flooding incidents.
