Environmental Science and Technology Park is the first national “Environmental Science & Technology Park”
In order to strengthen science & technology and traditional industry competition and to improve resource regeneration technology, the first national “Environmental Science & Technology Park” was incorporated into the design of Kaohsiung Kang-Shan Ben-Chou Industrial Zone in 2003. Under the “zero-waste” policy, it will promote the green cycling chain amongst the industries within the Park. |
At the same time, it will carry on with circulatory and continuous ecological urban planning in order to reach equilibrium among production, life and ecology. This is also an opportunity to unify our national arterial and peripheral industry organizations. The plan will solidify and promote the idea that environmental protection and economic development are equally important. Furthermore, it will be the most qualified model to bring challenges to the 2008 National Primary Planning and Development for New Industries. It serves as an exemplary index to continuous national development, and a model for a circular social system. Kaohsiung city’s industrial strength lies within its basic industry. In the Kaohsiung-Pingtung Region, a large number of factories manufacture metals, machineries, electronics and petroleum products. Relatively, the number of recyclable resource figures into a massive number. It is, therefore, most capable to support the Environmental Science & Technology Park in Southern Taiwan.

Area Planning
Southern Taiwan Environmental Science & Technology Park takes up 40 hectares. It is divided into three main areas: Quantity Verification Area (26 hectares), Research & Development and Education Area (4 hectares) and Public Area (10 hectares).
Southern Taiwan Environmental Science & Technology Park is the first in Taiwan to incorporate ecological, environmental, and scientific & technological concepts into the development of an industrial district. Comparing to other industrial districts that place emphasis on production increase, the Park focuses on improvement on technology.
The Park also regulates the production quantity and research & development. This not only heralds the innovation of environmental science & technology development but also corresponds to the international trend of continuous development. Further, it introduces advanced technological industry and, at the same time, carries on with building ecological and circular urban centers.
