Pier-2 Art Center |
The Pier-2 Art Center is housed in a formerly disused dockside warehouse that was transformed into a creativity center for design and contemporary art in southern Taiwan. The center hosts numerous contemporary art and design exhibitions: recent exhibits include 3D street art, works by Taiwanese and international artists selected for the Illustrators Exhibition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and automobile art. It is also the venue for a series of rousing rock music festivals. In September 2010, Sony Computer Entertainment Taiwan (SCET) established the PlayStation Incubation Center Taiwan at Pier-2. This will promote industry cluster formation in the digital gaming sector, as well as integrating art with life. Pier-2 is an important base for the development of cultural and creative industries in Kaohsiung. In 2010, 20 exhibitions and 34 musical events were held at the center, which has become an iconic location for southern Taiwanese art. |
