[Kaohsiung News] To promote and instill traffic safety education from a young age, the Kaohsiung City Government’s Transportation Bureau and Cultural Affairs Bureau collaborated on a unique project, inviting a local author to lead a picture book creation course at Fudong Elementary School in Lingya District. Over the course of a semester, 16 students participated in crafting the picture book Traffic Sign Little Detectives, where they were involved in everything from story development and character design to illustration. Through the children's imaginative storytelling, readers are introduced to traffic signals and signs, observe the light rail system, and experience traffic safety through the unique perspectives of these young detectives.

According to the National Land Management Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, this project, now in its second year, is part of the "Reading Traffic Together for Safer Roads " initiative, executed in collaboration with the Kaohsiung City Government. Previously, the project partnered with Heti Elementary School in 2022 to create Kaohsiung City Traffic Experts, which received widespread acclaim upon publication. This year’s collaboration with Fudong Elementary School has resulted in an even more rewarding outcome, with selected student talents creating a book that integrates road safety education with reading, traffic experiences, and cultural arts. The stories reflect real observations by the children, presenting traffic signs like pedestrian green lights, crosswalk lines, and pedestrian islands in a simple, lively, and clear format, effectively conveying how traffic signs and facilities protect pedestrians.

Kaohsiung City Deputy Mayor Lin Chin-rong expressed gratitude for the support from the "Enhancing Road Quality Project 2.0," which allowed the city to consolidate resources and foster interdepartmental collaboration under the “Reading Traffic Together for Safer Roads Project” to enhance human-centered traffic throughout Kaohsiung.
