[Kaohsiung News] The Kaohsiung City Government held its 698th municipal administrative meeting on November 5, presided over by Mayor Chen Chi-mai. Mayor Chen expressed heartfelt gratitude to city government staff for their dedication during Typhoon Kong-rey, ensuring public safety and swiftly restoring city order and the environment after the storm, enabling residents to return to normal life. The meeting featured a presentation by the Bureau of Cultural Affairs titled “Showcasing Kaohsiung’s Film and Television Policy through the TV mini-series Three Tears in Borneo” for which Mayor Chen praised the city’s efforts to promote Kaohsiung’s diverse cityscapes and longstanding commitment to developing multifaceted film and television policies.
The “2024 Kaohsiung Seafood Feast” series of events will be held from November 9 to December 8 at five major fishing ports across the city. Mayor Chen highlighted this year’s collaboration with renowned Kaohsiung-based illustrator Croter, who created large-scale art installations featuring whimsical IP characters and Kaohsiung’s unique seafood products. These installations will be on display at the Mituo Fishing Harbor Coastal Light Corridor from November 4 to November 27. Mayor Chen also called on the Marine Bureau to strengthen promotional efforts and encourage public participation.
Regarding the Bureau of Cultural Affairs’ report on “Showcasing Kaohsiung’s Film and Television Policy through the TV mini-series Three Tears in Borneo,” Mayor Chen emphasized that this locally produced series showcases the city’s longstanding efforts in promoting diverse film and television policies. He noted that film and television serve as vital mediums for conveying local culture, injecting cultural tourism energy into the city, and fostering the development of youth-led industries and talent cultivation. Kaohsiung itself, he stated, is like an expansive film set capable of creating scenes from any era. Mayor Chen expressed appreciation to the Bureau of Cultural Affairs and all related departments and agencies for their collective efforts in establishing Kaohsiung as a film-friendly city, thereby using filming locations to market the city’s beauty and charm.
Before the meeting, Mayor Chen Chi-mai presented awards to this year’s “Outstanding Apartment Buildings” in Kaohsiung. In the “Xiongqing Group,” the Mingrihui Building and the Haishenguan Building received the High Distinction Award, while the Jingcheng Dayuan Building and Dali City Building earned the Excellence Award. The Zenfar Liangtingyuan Building and River Flower Calendar Building were honored with the Quality Award, and the Cathay O2 Fu Building Community, J Modern Building, J.ONE Community, Xingfu O8 Building, and Patek Perpetual Building received the Jury's Appreciation Award. In the “Xiongyong Group,” the Castle Garden Building and Yuimom Yiju earned the High Distinction Award, while the Kuangjing Building and Dijinyuan received the Excellence Award. The River of Life Building and Chang-Gu 2000 Building were honored with the Quality Award, and the National Fine Arts Museum Building received the Jury's Appreciation Award.
