Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts / Neiweipi Cultural Park
Neiweipi Cultural Park, centered around the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts and occupying an area of more than 30 hectares, combines the art museum, a wetland ecological park, a sculpture park, a children’s art museum, and an open-air music plaza into a multifunctional cultural and artistic space that is integrated with everyday life. In addition to major international-class art exhibitions, the high-quality lawn concerts provide citizens with countless unforgettable evenings. For example, a classical concert by Tan Dun in January 2009, performing his theme music for the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, attracted an audience of over 6000. A concert in March 2010 used the BBC/Discovery Channel documentary The Blue Planet as its background, while in February 2011, the sole Taiwan performance of the multimedia orchestral concert Bugs Bunny at the Symphony, created and conducted by Emmy Award winner George Daugherty, was attended by nearly 10,000 people.
